President's Message; Hello and welcome to the website of the Blue Knights, Chapter XVI, Washington, PA. We are approximately 100 members of the law enforcement community banded together based on our common interest:: the motorcycle. Briefly, what has now become Blue Knights International was created in Maine in 1974 by a group of law enforcement officers. The by-laws, in part, read: …
How does this relate to our group of officers from five counties in Southwest PA? Chapter XVI was chartered in June of 2001. Locally, Blue Knight PA XVI members can, and will, be found at numerous community events where their participation increases public safety and awareness. Members can be found at charity rides and others events promoting fraternity between law enforcement and the public. Sometimes, during the riding season they even get together for a Chapter ride. Our annual premier event is the Blue Ride, occurring the last Sunday of July for the last 16 years. Co-hosted by the Blue Knights and members of the Washington Lodge #164, F & AM Masonic Lodge, Washington, PA, this ride raises funds for charitable organizations. In the past 16 years, this ride has raised well over one-half million dollars for these charitable projects. In its first 20 years, PA Chapter XVI believes it has made a positive difference in the surrounding communities. Look around – if it is a motorcycle event – if is a charitable cause; there are probably members of the Blue Knights in attendance. If you ride, or know someone who rides, you or they are aware of the "Blue Ride." If you are a member of law enforcement, active or retired, with a passion for motorcycles and public service we encourage you to visit the "membership requirements" page on this site and/or contact one of the local members. We are an active organization and would enjoy your participation.
Ride safe,
